Let’s do a coffee ride, the long way. The long way to coffee is a 120km loop starting on North Nechako road heading up Takla. At the top of Takla hang a right and head north on Chief Lake Road to 200 FSR. Next hang a right on 100 Road (we think that’s what it’s called) and you’re heading over towards coffee at Salmon Valley. Get your coffee then head down Landooz Road to Shelly and the mill. You’re pretty much done now. Head down Hart Hwy and back to the start.
The Longer Way to coffee also starts on North Nechako road. We’ll head up the Takla climb, but continue going West for a bit longer through some (sometimes) puddles. We’ll get back on the road at Ness Lake and head around it and up Chief Lake Road. If we work hard together it may be possible to catch the shorter route riders. We’ll turn off on 200 Road then go further north than 100 but end up looping back down to it. Next is coffee at Shelley then down to the mill. We’ll then head across the top of The Hart and into Pidherny to head down the gravel road to the finish.
As always this is a self-supported trip. Bring enough food and water, even a water filter, to get around the loop. If you can find someone to ride with this is excellent as two people together is much safer. There are bailouts down Pilot Mountain road or just come down the highway. There are no extra points awarded for having a shitty time just to finish the official route. The point of these rides is to explore new areas and push your self a bit, not visit an ambulance.
